Can't change cotrols. Takes forever to load. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.Oh and if you play anyway, don't double KO on the wizard boss or you will have to start over from the beginning : the key that drops will be lost forever and you won't be able to open doors to continue the game... neat huh?. OH MY LORD, possibly the greatest soundtrack to a game I have ever heard, still don't know what I'm doing or the controls but it is such a great game deserves the recognition. Awesome Story telling, greatest soundtrack and great design to the game overall10/10 could wank tojust love the game and the art style. Although there are multiple characters to play as, no true "metroid progression" style, and for the most part optional upgrades it still feels like it has a lot of backtracking when you realise you need more potions to keep up your health, or upgrades to do more damage. I still think that overall it's great, other than the familiars which require you to move the mouse to move the familiar, as well as control the character.. Endica VII The Dream King is a game we all deserved growing up and are now gifted to be able to play now.Gameplay: Let's start with difficulty. If you are person who grew up playing side scrollers and love a challenge, go for hard. It rewards players with bullet hell and difficult bosses. I have also played a bit of normal through the start, but choosing certain characters will let you breeze on by.With a plethora of characters and distinctions between each, the game has a rich choice of gameplay types. I personally am a rush down type, so Valos and Dash are great for starters. Mages like Emily area amzing as well. The only issue I am having is finding a player 2 to have amage as well. The mechanics are what define this game. A well polished medroidvania for it first hitting the market, with great platforming, enemies, bosses and more. The game also features skills for all characters, making a personal experience for each and giving different play styles and a sense of completionism. I pesonally will go back and grab all the coins I can to unlock more to the game. The fast-paced mechanics and quick reactions make this game a phenomenal blend of what I have always wanted in a side scroller I never really got in Megaman, Castlevania, Metroid, Contra, Metal Slug, Legend of Mana, etc. It blends all the wants and needs of a Metroidvania into one.Story: I know the story may seem childish compared to games of today, but almost all 16 bit fantasy side scorllers usually had a lighter side to them. A close compariosn to me is Secret of Mana, which one of the original composers helped with the soundtrack for the game as well (Disclaimer: The soundtrack is fantastic and holds true to the backdrop of the story and type of game). I am not far into as I wished to write this review, but reading the dialogue is a quick indication. In closing, the game is a fantasic piece that should not be overlooked! It offers amazing gameplay, a stunning soundtrack, a nostalgic story and boasts so much more. I would recommend playing the game with a few friends for probably one of the best couch co-ops in the last few years or enjoy playing the solo. Either way, this game is simply awesome.. The fact that I bought this game means that something on the shop page made me think I would enjoy it. Don't make the same mistake. This game doesn't have commercial quality. Even if you're a fan of 16 bit games, it's very difficult to enjoy this one.The loading takes more than 5 minutes and the game has absolutely no configuration so you have to guesss the controls.. Doesn't start, just leaves me with a black screen with music. I've played about half an hour of The Dream King. I want to like this game. It sounds nice. But music alone does not a good game make. It feels so unpolished - like a high school kids hack at a flash game on Newgrounds. If patches ever come out, I might give it another go.Thank God for Steam Refunds.. Task manager to the rescue.. The idea of this game is amazing. However, I have never been able to even play the game. Each time I've purchased it, it never works. I see that, on occasion, it gets updated, but nothing changes. Same ole crap. I would play a game like this in an instant. Just as long as it runs properly.. The pixel art is fine. The level design is not. I was hoping to at least find gameplay on par with Actraiser on the SNES, which basically amounted to running and jumping left and right, swinging a sword and maybe a magic spell, so the bar already isn't set that high. The controls are tight and responsive and feel fair, sure, but the level and enemy design falls so short of my expectations that I almost want my 99 cents back. The second boss isn't even animated. The ground so far is just right angles with absolutely nothing interesting going on, and the same couple goblin like guys who inexplicably shoot out bland balls of mediocrity. Given the state of the rest of the game, I'm actually surprised they managed to include platforms you can jump down from. The only aspect of this game that I could I feel remotely justified in applauding is how responsive and clean the controls feel. Everything else just feels like someone's half-finished first attempt at making a game.
